Santa Monica’s “Open Main Street” Returns This Weekend With Pickleball as the Main Attraction

The Santa Monica Pickleball Center Is the Main Sponsor This Year with Four Courts for Festival Attendees.

Santa Monica, CA, USA | August 07, 2023 –[Press Release Wire]– The third annual “Open Main Street” free community festival returns August 12-13 with a Pickleball Activation Area produced by Santa Monica Pickleball Center. Pickleball is the fastest growing sport in America with over five million players nationwide and this year, festival attendees will get a chance to observe, play, demo, and shop all things pickleball!

Four pop-up pickleball courts will be lined up on Main Street starting at Ocean Park Blvd. There will be pickleball pros, coaches, instructors, vendors, and players in attendance to present and assist attendees from any level of the sport. Attendees can receive free intro lessons, play live-ball, or even participate in open play. Spectators will also get to enjoy exhibition games with experienced, high-level players on Saturday and Sunday from 2pm – 4pm.

Two of the people hosting the pickleball attraction are Jon Neeter and Julio Rivera. Neeter is the owner of The Santa Monica Pickleball Center which is now known as the top pickleball destination in all of Los Angeles. Rivera is the Director of Pickleball at the Center and is a known pickleball pro in several leagues as well as the current head coach of Major League Pickleball’s Orlando Squeeze, a title he has held since they entered the league in January of 2023.

To celebrate National Pickleball Day on August 8th The Santa Monica Tennis Center has officially converted the exclusively offer pickleball and will only be using the title The Santa Monica Pickleball Center as of August 7th, 2023. The process of this transition has made international headlines with its grand opening in December of 2022. The center has been featured on KTLA, ABC, CBS, FOX, CNBC, TBS, Daily Mail, LA Times, and several upcoming Reality TV shows.

Over a half million dollars has been invested in the new facility, with the addition of four new lighted outdoor pickleball courts with top-of-the-line C&D nets and two thousand square feet of retail space which offers the largest and most-varied inventory of pickleball equipment in all of Los Angeles.

The Santa Monica Pickleball Center is a passion project of Jon Neeter and Julio Rivera, two seasoned professionals who have been involved in all aspects of the tennis and now pickleball community.
